About Me

My photo
I'm a habitual line crosser that believes everything happens for a reason, but life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances, you just have to live life to the fullest. Laugh as much as you can, spend all your money, tell someone what they mean to you, tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone's hand, comfort a friend, love the ones who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't, pig out, smile until your face hurts, be a flirt, stay up late and fall asleep watching the sun come up, don't be aftraid to take chances or fall in love . . . and most of all live in the moment, If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. No one said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Zilker Park Trail of Lights

I usually go to this with my friends who have kiddos and I take my dog, we take coffee or hot cocoa with an added surprise or if it's hot we take a bottle of champagne and put it in the back of the stroller, fun for the whole family :)

The Zilker Park Tree Lighting is an annual event that ushers in the Holiday season and marks the opening (a week later) of the Trail of Lights Festival. First-time participants are often overheard exclaiming in wonder "I thought it was going to be a real tree!" The tree is actually one of Austin's famous Moonlight Towers strung with a spiraling canopy of over 3500 lights. The tree lighting event features food, music, and other festivities.

Other Activities Include:
Spinning:
One favorite activity under the tree is spinning. Grab a partner or two or three. Stand under the tree, look up, and spin around and around.

Operation Blue Santa:
Bring any unwrapped toy appropriate for ages 12 and under and/or cash to the Blue Santa "Giving to Others" tent at the tree lighting ceremony.

Parking:
While Zilker Park is closed to private vehicles during the Trail of Lights, for the Zilker Tree Lighting just follow the long line of cars to the designated parking areas within a short distance of the tree. Be sure to come early!
