Katie Warner
I'm a habitual line crosser that believes everything happens for a reason, but life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances, you just have to live life to the fullest. Laugh as much as you can, spend all your money, tell someone what they mean to you, tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone's hand, comfort a friend, love the ones who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't, pig out, smile until your face hurts, be a flirt, stay up late and fall asleep watching the sun come up, don't be aftraid to take chances or fall in love . . . and most of all live in the moment, If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. No one said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

What Was She Wearing Answers

During the dog days of August and September's Indian summer, we often pine for a crisp autumn evening curled up with a mug of mulled cider. However, now that fall is upon us, we find ourselves, and our readers, grappling with clothing-minded conundrums. Whether you're fretting about how best to include this season's must have leopard accents into your wardrobe (check out Miranda Kerr) or simply seeking a lightweight outerwear option that is the perfect layering piece (props to Natalie Portman) we have gathered all of your celebrity-style queries and are pleased to present our fashionable findings in today's edition of What Was She Wearing: Answers!

Kate Moss
Although the tight shorts-avec-tights combo can be a bit tricky to master, Kate Moss shows us how to navigate this dressing situation with her signature insouciance. While running errands in West London earlier this month, the supermodel was spotted in an understated almost-all-noir ensemble. Specifically, she was wearing a pair of Prada shorts that are from many seasons ago (try Premium Denim Shorts ($80) from Topshop instead) and Mulberry's Double Prong Buckle Belt ($195). While much of the remainder of her outfit is comprised of vintage finds from the Portobello Road Market, we have gone ahead and selected some contemporary alternatives that match Moss' pieces in style! Be sure to check out Topshop's Short Extended Shoulder Jacket ($135), which mimics Moss' shrunken boy blazer with a modern strong-shouldered update. Though her exact boots and bag are one-of-a-kind, we suggest you consider Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent's Dylan Knee High Boot ($350) and either Prada's Pitone Drawstring Tote ($2990) or Melie Bianco's Studded Bag ($89) for her snakeskin carryall and you'll be strolling in style!

Lauren Conrad
Though the cameras may not beam Lauren Conrad's every move into your home on a weekly basis anymore, it's good to know that this Los Angeles lady still brings the chic wherever she goes. Spotted ducking into an appointment in West Hollywood last week, the former star of The Hills wore an adorably bright Geo Wrap Skirt ($48) from Ecote, smartly paired with Linea Pelle's Vintage Hip Belt with Perforation ($125) and a timeless black top, like Banana Republic's Short-Sleeve V-Neck Tee ($20). Conrad finished off the look with luxe accents including a Marc by Marc Jacobs purse and Lanvin ballet flats—both are from a few seasons ago. If you'd like some currently in-stock substitutions for these key accessories, we think Hurley's Vivienne Bag ($64) and Vera Wang Lavender Label's Lillian Flats ($195) also fit the bill!

Miranda Kerr
Whether she's posing as Victoria Secret angel or channeling a futuristic urbanite on the Balenciaga runway, Miranda Kerr certainly has proved that she's got quite a range! Off-duty, however, Kerr opts for the sort of gorgeous, grounded, and au courant brand of chic embodied by Isabel Marant's F/W 09 collection. Seen here taking a walk in New York City wearing editor-favorite (and unfortunately sold out) leopard skirt and heather gray sweatshirt from Marant, and Balenciaga's Black Flat Ankle Boots ($945, 212.206.0872), we can happily report that we've successfully sleuthed out some look-a-like alternatives to her designer pieces. We love the animalistic print of this Charlotte Russe Leopard Knit Skirt ($20), while the cut and color of Rogan's Mackayla Top ($132) mimics her Etoile by Isabel Marant shirt. Round out the rest of the ensemble with Topshop's Anarch Square Toe Cowboy Boot ($160), and Elizabeth and James' IX Blazer ($425), and you'll be Kerr-azy stylish in no time flat!

Natalie Portman
Though she often flies under the paparazzi radar, we are always pleased as punch to spot the ever-adored Natalie Portman out and about. Though she usually dons divine Lanvin frocks for her red carpet appearances, it's good to know that the Love and Other Impossible Pursuits-star is equally well-appointed when dressed down. Seen in between press events during the Toronto International Film Festival late last month, Portman stayed cozy in Salvatore Ferragamo's Double Breasted Capelet ($1990, 800.628.8916), which she layered over Chloe's Silk Medallion Printed Shirt ($1165, 212.717.8220), and MiH's The Marrakesh Flare ($244). While her exact pieces are certainly desirable, if you're looking for more budget-friendly alternatives, be sure to try either Pringle 1815's Swing Jacket ($750) or A.P.C. Madras' Canvas Cape ($200); both the British and French fashion houses have designed lovely cape cover-ups that will look perfect over your favorite fall and winter outfits. All you'll need is a pair of flared denim bottoms, like Gap's Nautical Jeans ($70) and a patterned scarf like this Banana Republic Silk Printed Scarf ($60) to help you achieve that Portman-inspired polish!

Myspace Muses

As the old saying goes, an outfit is worth a thousand words. Okay, so perhaps that's not the exact phrase, but the idea that you communicate through your clothing choices is certainly true. We've taken that sentiment a step further, and recently decided that a thoughtfully assembled ensemble is the sartorial equivalent of a delightful dinner-party chat. Of course, if the head-to-toe look is tantamount to the sort of in-depth conversation you have over a meal, that means accessories are sort of like cocktail-hour small talk. After all, much like the quips one trades over martinis and mixed nuts, these wardrobe addendums convey your personality, interests, and taste level. If our theory is true—which it is, of course—then today's MySpace Muses have definitely mastered the art of banter. What might seem like little details—a nude shoe, a pair of patterned tights, or an oversized clutch—are actually the sort of key pieces that speak volumes about their personal style. These savvy muses have an extraordinary eye for the sort of small accents that add a new dimension to their look and subtly transform wardrobe basics into an inspiring ensemble. So, dear readers, listen closely, and steal a line from these ladies' party prattle, as they teach us how to make a lasting and fashionable impression without even saying a word.

Nude shoes are the perfect accompaniment to a modest black frock.
After viewing Coco Avant Chanel, what piqued our interest most about the iconic designer was something we already knew well: we love her simple, elegant designs, especially in the face of all the frou-frou popular in that era. Erin, 26, from Oakland, quietly channels that tasteful glamour in her uncomplicated, yet chic, arrangement of nude shoes and a black frock. The vintage-inspired silhouette of her daytime dress is quite ladylike, but looks fresh when personalized with a shorter hemline and bow-bedecked flats. You can capture Erin's quirky-prim look by pairing RVCA's Long Sleeve Boat Neck Button Front Dress ($72) with Charlotte Russe's Ruffle Button Flats ($19).

Red lips and a big braid spice up simple neutral pieces.
While the Fall 09 runways were focused on bold lip statements, the Spring 10 runways spotlighted thick plaits (most notably those at Miu Miu and Alexander Wang). We like how Caroline, 27, from New York City, has melded both these of-the-moment beauty trends, using them to elevate her basic look. You can easily snag Caroline's base of a gray tank and white skirt combo by picking up BDG's PE Tank Top ($24) and Free People's Downtown Ruffle Mini Skirt ($62), which echoes the layered look of this muse's selection. As for her must-have pout, we recommend Are You Red-dy ($7.50), the magical offering from Maybelline's Color Sensational Lip Color line, which literally looks amazing on every face. Or, if you prefer a brighter orange-red (as opposed to a true red), pick up Giorgio Armani's Rouge d'Armani Lipstick ($30) in 401, which Rihanna recently paired with an all-black ensemble during Fashion's Night Out in New York!

A boyfriend blazer looks chic over a girly mini dress.
While we are slowly accumulating faux furs, strong-shouldered jackets, and sequined outerwear, Caroline, 20, from Indonesia, shows us there is still a place in our closets for that seasonal staple—the boyfriend blazer. Her neutral blazer contrasts nicely with her floral-print mini dress, offering a chic dialogue between masculine/feminine. Get Caroline's look by starting with a comparable outfit foundation, like the cool-hued Forever 21 Floral Garden Dress ($20), then add a little polish with Silence & Noise's Boyfriend Blazer ($78), a year-round essential. Finally, give this pulled-together ensemble a little bit of edge by trying a sexier shoe. We like bebe's Lanie Studded Heel Booties ($179) for their slit-front silhouette and studded spike heels.

Intricate and patterned tights are a key accent for all this fall.
Although they may technically qualify as "bottoms," patterned tights are "topping" our trend list for fall. That's why we were immediately taken with the lovely lace version worn by Jaimee, 25, from New York. Jamiee's fashion-forward legwear is the exciting, personal touch that instantly adds pizzazz to her dress-and-blazer ensemble. Jazz up your winter basics by snagging a pair of Pencey's Stirrup Leggings ($88), which grabbed our attention with their edgy, lacey design, and adding a daytime cotton dress. We recommend American Apparel's Baby Rib Tube Bubble Dress ($26) in a similarly striking olive hue.

An oversized daytime clutch is still a fresh accessory choice.
Niki, 19, from Arkansas, takes an evening standard—the clutch purse—and reinvents it for day. By opting for an oversized iteration in a light color and pairing it with a crème sweater and shorts, she gave her neutral-toned ensemble an unexpected, yet sophisticated, twist. Steal a note from Niki by opting for London Fog's Camden Clutch ($95); the retro-style envelope is fashion-forward because of its exaggerated size, while the plaid pattern is across-the-pond chic. Pair your fantastic clutch with a cozy camel sweater like laurie b.'s Tart Cardy ($171), to fully recreate Niki's brand of casual chic.

Patterned minis mix well with basic black and bold jewelry.
We selected our final muse, Lindsay, 25, from Los Angeles, for her creative approach to basic black. Her sculptural necklace is a bold choice that complements the exaggerated scoop neck of her black tee, while her graphic mini-skirt further serves the artistic aesthetic of her ensemble. For a look that's just as day-at-the-museum worthy, try pairing Forever 21's Painted Twill Skirt ($16) with a fantastic black t-shirt that you can keep in your closet all year-round. We recommend LNA's Deep Scoop Short Sleeve Tee ($60), which is equally ideal for displaying your statement necklace; either Blue Bijoux's Mixed Spikes Necklace ($38) or Rachel Leigh's Geometric Fringe Necklace ($168) is an excellent pick.—Liza Kaplan
